Paint Mixing & Colour Matching
Create Your Own Custom Colour
At Reeds Decorating Centre, our colour mixing, colour scanning, and paint matching service lets you create your perfect shade for any interior or exterior project.
Bring in a sample of your favourite colour, and we’ll instantly generate a unique colour formula that can be mixed into almost any paint finish. With an unlimited range of colours, you can design a truly personalised palette for every room in your home or business.
How It Works
1. Bring a Sample of Your Colour
Our expert colour-matching team will scan your sample and create a custom colour recipe.
To ensure an accurate match, your sample should be:
- At least the size of a 50p coin
- Clean and dry (we can’t scan wet surfaces)
- A solid colour (not patterned or textured)
Please note: We’re unable to match colours from phone, tablet, or computer screens.
2. Mixing Your Bespoke Paint Colour
Once your sample has been scanned and matched, choose the type and finish of paint you need.
We can create custom colours for most finishes — whether it’s for walls, woodwork, metal, or exteriors. Our in-store and online teams are happy to help you select the right product for your project.
We’ll then mix your bespoke paint for you to take home — ready to use.
3. Archived Colours
Looking for an old favourite? Our Dulux, Crown, Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library, and Farrow & Ball tinting machines hold recipes for every colour ever produced by those brands — including archived shades no longer shown on colour cards.
Simply provide the brand name and colour name, and we can retrieve the original recipe.
4. Got a Question?
Not sure what you need for your next decorating project? Get in touch with our friendly team using the “Got a Question” link at the bottom of our homepage — we’re happy to help.
5. Colour Systems
In addition to manufacturer colour palettes and our in-store scanning technology, we can also mix colours from the following systems:
British Standard (BS)
A popular range widely used in the UK building industry. The BS4800 range, based on the BS5252 framework, provides standardised colours ideal for architectural and decorative use.
Natural Colour System (NCS)
A globally recognised system with 1,950 standardised colours, designed to describe colours exactly as we see them — independent of language or culture. Commonly used in architecture and design.
RAL Colour System
Used extensively in construction, manufacturing, and industry, RAL colours are a trusted standard across Central Europe and beyond — perfect for coatings, finishes, and road safety applications.
